1. Has anyone using a Pela (or other extractor) extracted all the oil it could get, then pull the plug to see if any oil was leftover? In my TDI the Pela did a good job, but didn't get everything I found. 2. Where did you get the filter from? The dealer? Amazon? HU-6002-Z? Planning switching from the factory Castrol to probably Liqui-Moly.
The high performance dry filters will filter slightly better, but flow slightly less per square inch of filter media. If you live in a dusty area or drive dirt roads, then I would go dry. I decided to go oiled for max performance.
Double the mileage, and prices fall moderately. Mk7 Rs, with just shy of six figures on the odometer, sit in the lower-middle $20,000 range. Set the mileage to just above the 50K mark, and prices jump up about ten grand. Facelifted Mk7.5s top out around that $38,000 mark and can dip as low as $30,000.
Checked the new oil filter and so far so good. Unfortunately the garbage men already came so my old filter was long gone. Tried a magnet in the old oil and didn’t turn anything up. Will do an oil change in 1,000 miles and inspect. No knocking or otherwise strange behavior.
the utube video by idparts on a recently delivered north america ( MA) 2015 Jetta TDI MKVII is linked to above. to make room for the coolant to air cooler between the turbo and the intake, they had to move the oil filter access to the bottom of the engine, with a few tubes and wires in the way. watch the video. around 16 minute mark.
VWAG specifies at least two different PNs for OIL filters depending on application for MK7 Golf 1.8T - PN 06K 115 562 (approx $11 CAD before taxes) for MK7 GTI / R - PN 06L 115 562 (approx $18 before taxes at dealer) When I did an oil change on my 1.8T I had an oil filter I had previously bought for my R, so I used this filter.
nathyo 5 posts. JWTS 5 posts. Just had the 3rd service on the R including the Haldex oil change, asked for the filter to be changed and for a photo so I could see how dirty the filter was. When I collected the car was told that my Haldex doesn't have a filter so no photo and nothing changed, this is by the VW dealer.
That's true of others but AFE's oiled filter actually filter as well or better, not worse. Here's a fine dust filtration test from Bob's the oil guy site where the oiled AFE actually did better than the dry. The Oiled AFE is about the same as the dry on course dust and both much better than the K&N in that test which I can't find right now.
